The Ministry of Rural Development under the Government of India endeavours to elevate poverty in rural sectors of the country. Swarnajayanti Grameen Swarojgar Yojana (SGSY), started in 1999, was restructured as the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM). NRLM aims to reach out to all the rural poor families (BPL families) and link them to sustainable livelihoods opportunities. It will nurture them till they come out of poverty and initiate the processes of them in the beginning, providing the livelihoods services and the livelihoods outcomes subsequently. MPSRLM, which extends NRLM mission in the state of Madhya Pradesh, aspire to develop strong and self-reliant community institutions with a focus on women empowerment and employability support.
The Indian Council of Agricultural Research - Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, is a renowned centre for learning, research and development in agriculture. The institute is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Agriculture (Government of India) and has years of experience in applied research into soy cultivation and processing. Their commitment to the Good Faming – Good Food will translate into close collaboration on technical knowledge support on soy food processing (at household and industrial level) and entrepreneurship development, among others.
To carry out basic and strategic research on Soybean the National Research Centre for Soybean was established in 1987. NRCS was upgraded to Directorate of Soybean Research (DSR) soon . ICAR- DSR was upgraded to the status of ICAR-Indian Institute of Soybean Research (IISR) on Jan 2016. It also looks after the inter-disciplinary and multi-location research through All India Coordinated Project on Soybean (AICRPS). The Comprehensive initiatives taken by IISR and AICRPS along with all the stakeholders involving industry, NGOs, Community Based Organisations (CBOs) and farmers have led to unprecedented growth in Area, Production and Productivity of soybean in the country. IISR provides their unreplaceable technical and knowledge support to the Good Farming – Good Food on a regular basis.
The National Programme of Nutritional Support to Primary Education was launched on 15th August, 1995 with the objective of increasing studying in primary classes in Government, Government-aided and Local Body Schools and to provide nutritional support simultaneously. While encouraging poor children belonging to disadvantaged sections to attend school more regularly and help them concentrate on classroom activities, the programme also provides nutritional support to children. The Good Farming – Good Food works closely with the Mid Day Meal cooks and help them in improving the nutrition intake for the children.
East-West Seed is one of the ten largest vegetable seed companies in the world. East-West Seed India Private Ltd. is operating as a private limited company since the year 2003. The company strives to serve smallholder farmers by supplying a broad portfolio of hybrid and open-pollinated GMO-free seeds and help them grow better crops with better yield. The variety helps in increasing the overall income of farmers and promote the quality of produce as well. The farmers thus grow nutritious and safe to eat agricultural products for their consumers. The company also educates farmers and helps them to maximise their yield through better knowledge of vegetable production via its knowledge transfer wing.
Samarth Kisan Producer Company Limited is a Farmer Producer Organisation registered as a for-profit company under part IX A of the companies act 1956 (companies amendment act 2002; Section No.581B). Samarth was established to help the member farmers receive equal representation in the competitive markets. The FPO works tirelessly for the farmers in establishing new market linkage and fair price- fair value of their products. The company is managed by a professional management team who supports the Board of Directors (BoDs) in day to day operations. Samarth FPO has a membership base of 6,552 farmers. Its member farmers own the entire shares of the company.
Vippy Industries has been tirelessly working with smallholder farmers and farmer organisations to bring affordable processed soy products to every household. The company entered the solvent extraction business in the year 1973 and converted as a public limited company in the year 1986. The company soon grew to become one of the leading soy processing industry in central India. Vippy is also leading in its soy exports and holds ISO 9001 – 2008 certification from Bureau of Veritas. It is also a government recognised export house since 1989 and exports to more than 41 countries across the globe.
