Rakshika Mahila Kisan Producer Company, a dynamic women-led farmer producer organization (FPO) based in Gunga, Berasia Bhopal has been making significant achievements in empowering rural women and promoting sustainable agriculture. With a dedicated board of 11 members and a strong network of 293 shareholders, Rakshika has emerged as a beacon of hope for local farmers.

One of the key initiatives undertaken by Rakshika in this Rabi season of 2024 is the procurement and distribution of high-quality wheat seeds. In a recent endeavour, the FPO procured 471 bags of wheat from Bharatkhand and successfully distributed all of it to 90 farmers in the region. Each farmer received the quantity of seeds depending upon their specific needs.

To ensure optimal crop yields and quality, Rakshika offered a diverse range of wheat seed varieties, including Poorna 1.1544, GW 322, Poshak Malwa 8663, DBW 303, Pusa Tejas 8759, H 1 8713, and H 1 1634. By providing farmers with a wide selection of seeds, Rakshika empowered them to make informed choices based on their soil conditions and climatic factors. The impact of Rakshika's seed distribution programme has been substantial. By facilitating access to quality seeds, the FPO has significantly contributed to increased agricultural productivity and improved livelihoods for the farming community. The farmers are expected to have higher yields, better crop quality, and enhanced income. Moreover, Rakshika's commitment to sustainable agriculture extends beyond seed distribution. The FPO is also licensed to sell fertilizers, enabling farmers to optimize their nutrient management practices. By promoting the use of appropriate fertilizers, Rakshika helps farmers maintain soil health and reduce their reliance on harmful chemical inputs.

The financial success of Rakshika's seed distribution programme is evident in the impressive profit generated. With a total expenditure of Rs. 9270, the FPO earned a substantial profit of Rs. 35754. This remarkable achievement demonstrates the organization's efficiency and its ability to generate sustainable income for its members.
